Dress-Up Day & Dr. Seuss Night @ North Park Elementary

So the kids got to dress up as their favorite book character at school and Corey chose Fancy Nancy. She wanted to be Junie B. Jones who is really her favorite character, but the costume was too ordinary and she does not have red short hair, so she chose her 2nd favorite character which is Fancy Nancy. What is really funny is Corey loves dress-up days so much that she cannot sleep the night before, because she is so excited. So we had her costume all ready to go for Thursday morning. Well before she got out of the car to catch the bus, she had half of her costume, purposely left in the car. This picture here is how I wanted her to look. But by the time she caught the bus, she had her boa off and a few necklaces and braclets. She is so funny that way; so worried about what people think and she has to be prefectly comfortable. The boa was itchy and she thought the kids would laugh. ANNOYING! What happened to the days when I could dress her in anything I wanted. Now she has an OPINION. WHAT?
Then they had a Dr. Seuss night, that same night to promote literacy and reading. They had storytime and a bunch of activity rooms and cupcake decorating, etc. They got to make Dr. Seuss hats, little elephants made out of egg cartons, a book walk, face painting, pin something-on-something and more. They loved it, but of course I had Corey in tears when we were leaving because I pulled her away from the book walk. It could have taken hours and I was so not wanting to wait that long. But they had fun and I love watching my kids SMILE and LAUGH. Corey sure loves being with her friends and cousins. She is in her height-and-glory when she is with THE GIRLS. Poor girl needs a sister!
