A Cold Weekend at the Cabin

We had not been to the cabin in awhile and were having a hard time finding a weekend we could go. My kids love it there and so we decided to go Matt's bday weekend. We did have to miss one of Casen's soccer games, but it was worth it. We did not get up there till 1:00 AM Friday night because the boys went to the BYU/Utah State Game in Logan that night. So when we got up there it was FREEZING! 22 degrees outside. So all the kids had to wake up and put coats on and sit in front of the heaters until we could start a fire, make some beds, and bring all our luggage in.  I don't think we got in bed till 2:00 AM, but at least the kids slept in until 9:00 AM that next day! We went up with the Thatchers...Dan and Marsh!

Saturday, we made some breakfast and just hung around the cabin till about 2:00. We wished we could've watched conference, but the cabin does not have cable, so we had to tape it at home and catch up later! It was Matt's bday on Saturday, so we opened up a few presents after breakfast! We got Matt a lot of DALLAS APARREL. The kids also painted some cute ceramic figures I brought up with us. I figured we would be inside a little because of the cold. The kids loved that! There little figurines turned out cute! The kids even got out the golf cart and went for a few rides. It was actually a lot warmer, out on the road, where you could feel the sun!

It was funny because the first night it was so cold in the cabin, but the second night we were all roasting and had to open some windows.

Saturday afternoon, we went for a hike in Afton, Wyoming called Periodical Springs. Luckily we brought our winter coats because even though there was not a lot of snow until the end of the hike, it was pretty cold. We were hiking in the shade, so it was a bit nippy! We even got to see the waterfall come out of the rocks! It was a bit slippery in the snowy areas and a little sketchy of a hike with little kids!
The kids all had fun and it was nice to get out! Casen and Crew got pretty cold on the way back and Corey's feet were cold. I told her to wear socks with her shoes!! One day my kids will listen and realize I know what I am talking about!

That night we ate in Afton at Agave, a Mexican Restaurant! And then we went home and I made Matt a cherry cobler with ice cream. He is not much of a cake person. And we watched a movie. It was a  nice relaxing birthday for Matt. Can't believe he is 37. WOAH!

Sunday, we just relaxed, ate breakfast, cleaned up and went home around 2:00. It was a nice weekend. I love bringing Dan and Marsha and their family. Their kids are so cute and get along great with our kids. And they are all so relaxed and easy to be around. No Drama!

For some reason, Matt brought the machete!!!???
