Memorial Weekend 2009

So this weekend was not the greatest, except for Monday when the family actually started feeling better. Saturday night, of course Corey came down with the dreaded flu and so did I. And then Sunday night, Matt also came down with the dreaded flu too. (Cade had it last weekend and no one got it, so we thought we were "Scott free. But of course NOT!) So all weekend we were sick and tired and cleaning with Lysol and washing beds and blankets, etc. So I was exhausted and was actually excited for Tuesday to role around. The only good thing was that I did not have to cook all weekend because no one felt like eating. We drank Sprite, Gatorade and ate popsicles all weekend.
The other good thing was that I did get to go out to eat Thursday night for my FREAKING 30th birthday and Grandpa Norm watched the 2 younger kids Friday night and let us go to dinner with some friends that night too. And we also got to order a little furniture for our "Almost fininshed basement" on Saturday. We counted that as my birthday, 10 year anniversary present, and Fathers Day and Mothers Day presents. Can you believe 10 years we have been married? CRAZY! Next year we want to celebrate it more and go on a trip, just Matt and I, but baby Casen is too young for us to really go anywhere this year. He is still attached at the boob. So next year, hopefully!
But finally by Monday everyone was feeling a little better and so I took the kids and we went and bought some pretty flowers and went and visited my grandparents graves in Wellsville,Utah...about 25 minutes away. I love that cemetary. It is beautiful and especially on Memorial Day. I want to be buried there some day when I get old and wrinkly. I also got to give my kids a little history lesson. And we each said something special about them.
Oh and funny story. I am use to my life as a busy mom, just taking one day at at time. Well my kids and I were trying to carry the flowers over to the graves because I had the baby in one hand. Well my car was parked sideways and totally in the way to passerbys. And I was carrying these flowers, struggling... and taking pics with one hand, etc. etc. etc. Well this skinny, OLD lady and her husband were looking at me so funny. And you have to picture this lady, shawl wrapped over her shoulders, totally pampered all her life. Well she kept giving me this look and so I said "Would you like me to move my car? Is it in your way?" And she said " No dear, but you really need some help." So I am assuming she has forgotten the days with kids. I thought I was doing pretty good, getting flowers, actually making it over to the gravesite. I was not stressed out at all. It was actually a good day. No barf, no temperatures, no laundry. So I was just laughing all the way home, promising myself that I will not be one of those kind of old people when I grow up.....but happy and enjoying life and enjoying my grandkids..... just like my Grandpa Allan. I love him. He is so special. It will be a SAD SAD day when he passes. Love you Gramps!
Hope you all had an eventful weekend.
