Cade's First Successful Deer Hunt

Cade has been hunting here and there with Matt the last 2 years, but has never come home with anything. This year they did. All week, Matt just took Cade up in the mountains above our house, after he got home from work. They would take the 4-wheeler up as far as they could go, park it and then hike. Matt says Cade spots deer so good and he is a great hiker. No whining! And they were hiking on some pretty steep stuff. But they were only seeing doe's. (We see so many deer down in our neighborhood, even some good size bucks, but you can't shoot them in the neighborhood. So we know they are up there in the mts. somewhere above our house.

This past Friday, was kind of a hectic day for our family. I had a craft thing at church at 4:30 I was going to and Matt took Cade up hunting at 5. So Corey was suppose to babysit for about 1.5 hours. Matt was in cell phone range in case there was an emergency and Crew was sleeping. Well it got to be about 6:45 and Matt was not home and Corey was calling me....telling me he got a deer and it was almost dark. And she was going to be late to her cousins witch party. Anyways to cut it short, we worked it out...she made it to her witch party on time and Matt and Cade got the deer down the mt.

Matt said he knew the deer was not a big one, but Cade was so excited to finally see one with antlers that he told Matt to shoot it. So of course, being the best dad there is, Matt shot it and hit it. Matt even hit it on the run. Cade was so excited! Matt even gutted it. But he said it was quite the slaughter. He has not done it in so long. And he said he was dry heaving. But they dragged it down the mt. to the 4-wheeler and got it up on the 4-wheeler and made it home by dark  with a little help from Matt's friend Matt Jones. We took these pics in the morning with Cade cause it was too dark the night before.

All I know is that Cade is so excited to have these antlers to keep in his room. But WOW what a bloody mess in the backyard and the garage and all over Matt's clothes. So nasty and not my thing. I like to go camping when they go hunting but all that dirty deer stuff is so not my thing. But exciting to see Cade loving it. One day he will by old enough to get his own gun and shoot one himself. Matt had me help him lift it into the truck to take it to a friends house and I was gagging...blood dripping in the garage. Couldn't do it. Definitely could not work in the butchering dept. Not good with blood! But Cade is a true hunter!

Little boys loving it too!

Busy UEA Weekend- Part 2

Day 2 of our kids break, I took my friend Alyson to lunch for her birthday and then afterwards I decided to go to the Trampoline Jump Zone, a new attraction here in Logan, with the kids. I let the kids bring some friends and it was alot of fun. 1 hour is not enough time though. I thought that they would be exhausted after 1 hour, but they needed at least 1 more hour....especially for $10. They were so sad we had to go when their time was up.

Casen and Crew played on the Kiddie Zone and they both loved it. I was amazed at how well Crew could jump for his age....2 years old in Jan. The place was pretty crowded so my older kids were even playing "SOFTLY" in the kiddie zone and playing with my little boys.

After the jump zone, we drove past the Corn Maze and decided to try it out. I know I hate corn mazes because I hate to be confused! I just want one path to the finish!!!! Well we took 8 kids through the corn maze and made it through in about an hour. I don't read maps, especially the crappy map that was provided for this particular corn maze. I just depended on other people going through the corn maze. We finally found a lady who knew how to read the map and we just stuck with her. I was carrying Crew alot of the way, so I just wanted the shortest way out. The kids were so good to not run ahead and get lost. It was alot of fun actually. I was just glad to be out before dark. It got haunted at night time and that would've been an nightmare.

I dropped a few of the kids off and then took the cousins to Chuck-A-Rama for dinner and then to the pumpkin walk again...in the dark this time. Crew loved all the lights. It was crowded again, but super Neat! It was a long day, but I think the kids had fun! And I think we were all exhausted!

Saturday, we went to McDonalds for breakfast and then headed for the airport to pick up My Grandpa Allan. He was coming in for his brothers funeral and we volunteered to go and pick him up. Later that night, after a long afternoon in the car, we went up Logan Canyon to visit Matt at his campsite. Matt and his friends had been deer hunting and camping all weekend. So we spent some time at the campfire that night. The kids always love that. They love the fire and smores and the camper and all the fun that goes with camping. We stayed for about 3 hours and then went home. Crew was really cranky that night, so it was not as enjoyable as I would've liked, but it was fun to see dad and some of his friends and get to talk around the fire. And it was actually pretty warm. Thank heavens. It was a fun weekend, but I was excited for a relaxing Sunday and school to start again on Monday!

Busy UEA Weekend- Part 1

 Casen's Pumpkin

My kids had a few days off for Fall Break and we decided to just relax and stay home in Logan. I promised my kids that we would do a few fun things while they were out of school.  So we started out with decorating pumpkins. My kids don't love cleaning pumpkins and carving, so these pumpkin faces have been a life saver. Fun and so easy! And even Casen and Crew can do it too. We still might carve at least 1 pumpkin cause I love carving them. It brings back memories of when I was younger.

We then walked through the pumpkin walk. We wanted to go and check out our neighborhood displays. They were all so good....something we enjoy every year. We wanted to go and see them during the daytime too.

Every year my kids play in these wooden signs and they love them.

The Bachelor- Our friends and neighbors did this one...

Madagascar Afro Circus- Our friends too....

My friends husband did this giraffe....so amazing!

Later I took the kids to the Fun Park. Corey got to invite a friend. They always love the Fun Park. It was short and sweet. Crew and Casen loved it too.

Logan really has some fun things to do this time of year...before it turns into WINTER! AHHHHH!

Corey's Soccer Team 1st place

We finally have finished up Corey's season. Going into the playoffs, we were in 2nd place with Aggies in 1st place. The playoffs went pretty good for us. We actually beat the 1st place team, the Aggies 3-1. Then we played the 3rd place team and beat them 5-2. So if we beat this last team, the 4th place team, Lightning, we would for sure be in 1st place. Well we actually lost 1-0. It was a hard game. These other girls are from Brigham City and 8 of the 12 girls are giants. Like 5-6 inches taller than our girls and 30 pounds heavier. So to say the least, we got pushed around like crazy, especially little Hannah and Corey. Corey kept getting hurt and falling down and crying. I was starting to get frustrated, along with Matt because we could not tell if she was really crying cause she was hurting or just frustrated. I think the girls knew the pressure of this game. So on top of the pressure and these huge girls, it was a rough game. The one goal that did go in, Corey was the last defender trying to get it away from this girl and it got past her and past the goalie. She was bawling because I think she felt like the goal was her fault, but I had to keep explaining to her that it is a team effort. Anyway, the girls were all bawling after the game and so sad because they needed to win that game.

All night, Corey was sad and kept re-hashing the game. Well come to find out, the Aggies lost to the 3rd place team, 1-0. That was not expected! Corey's mood soon changed because we then had a change at 1st. It came down to shut outs and points scored against us and we won it by one goal. Guess they don't count GOALS SCORED only GOALS SCORED AGAINST US. So I kept telling Corey that the defense won 1st place for them  this season. NICE JOB HAVOC. YOUR AWESOME, YOUR CRAZY, YOUR HAVOC. Congrats!

It is so fun to have a daughter that is talented at soccer. I love soccer and don't play  much anymore cause I am old and they don't have any leagues, so it is fun to be able to watch Corey play and to watch her team play. It is also fun to have a team that is so talented too. Love soccer and love to watch it. I secretly hope she continues to play through high school and maybe college. It would be so fun! I would be her biggest FAN!

Red Ribbon Week- Crazy Hair Day!

Ever year during Red Ribbon Week (Against Drugs week) at school, the kids get to do a lot of fun activities and wear certain colors to school, etc. But there is always Crazy Hair Day on Friday and it causes quite a stir. All the kids love it, especially mine. They even start planning it the year before. And I dread it every year. My kids have all these great ideas, but uncreative JEN can't do any of their ideas. I am good with a bottle of spray paint and that is about it. So this year, we did their hair and they were happy about it. Casen even wanted to go to the kids school for lunch and check out all the crazy hair styles. So we did and it was pretty fun to see all the CRAZY HAIR IDEAS. Not to mention, Cade does not have a lot of hair, so it is not easy to come up with ideas. I liked his cool color of his hair this year. It was a frosty white. Pretty cool! Glad it is over! But the kids always love it!
