A Fun-Filled BUSY Weekend

We had a pretty busy, but fun weekend. First of all, I rode in my first bike race. Well it wasn't really a race, but a tour. It was called the Cache Valley Century. I rode it with my friends Alyson and her husband Kyle. We signed up for the 60 miles and we finished. It was actually 63 miles! I got a road bike about 2 months ago and started riding. I really loved it. I started training with Alyson about 2 weeks ago. She decided to get serious about it and so we went on a few rides together. One of the them was about 35 miles and it was hard. So I was worried about the 60 miles. But we just slowed up our pace a little, and I made it the whole way. I think I could have done the 100. I would have been a lot more tired and sore, but I honestly think a lot of it is mental. But we averaged a 17.2 mph speed and we rode it in 3 hours and 38 minutes. So not bad, for my first race. It feels good to say I have done that! Now I just need to get in shape for a 100 miler in the spring. But living in snowy conditions kinda makes that hard. So I guess I might have to sign up for a spin class.
I loved it. We stopped at a few rest stops to get some food and drinks and rest a few minutes. And we drafted a little too. I don't love drafting cause it is hard to stay close to someones tire. You have to really concentrate and I like to look around at the scenery and take it all in. So I am not a hard core biker. All the hard core bikers and their trains passed us in the beginning. That is what I was nervous about was getting in other peoples way. But it was so relaxed and such a fun environment to be in....in an environment where everyone loves biking and everyone is so supportive! Now I just need to get Matt to do it with me. He loves mt biking, but I think it would be a fun thing to do together! (I don't know though.Guys are always faster and then I would feel pressured to keep up. Or try to keep up.)
Anyway, Becca and JR were in town, so they came with Matt and the kids to the finish line to cheer me on and show support. It was nice that they came. It made me feel good that they cared! So cute!

That night, we took the kids to the Brigham City Temple Open House with Becca and JR. It was really pretty and I was glad the kids got to experience that...especially the older ones. They all thought the baptismal font was the coolest. Crew and Cade thought it was a hot tub and Crew yelled out WHOA when it was really quiet. So funny!

Sunday after church and dinner, Becca wanted to go and practice soccer for her upcoming rec co-ed league she is playing in and Corey wanted practice too. So we went down to the elementary school and played some 3 on 3 and shot the ball around for an hour or so. It was fun! Then of course the kids wanted pics of them acting like monkeys.

The cute little newlyweds. They are still glowing!

And of course Matt has to turn every pic we take into a sexual pic. SO MATT! He looks creepy in this pic!

First Day of School

Can't believe summer is over for my kiddos. They were actually excited to go back and see their friends. I was honestly excited too because there were days where there was too much fighting and messes all day long and I need a break from that! But I don't want summer to end and all the fun activities. It seems like when winter arrives, we don't get to do as much because of snow, cold weather, and icy roads. So I love the summer and fall because we get to travel around Utah and have fun! I have noticed the nights getting a little colder and it depresses me cause I know winter is right around the corner.

Corey started 4th grade today with Mrs. Gutke and Cade started 2nd grade today with Mrs. Checketts. They both had their outfits laid out last night and were excited to get up this morning. Hopefully their first day was lots of fun!

Casen WANTS to be starting pre-school this year, but we are going to hold him off one more year. Crew needs a friend at home in the mornings and that is just one less place I have to run my kids. Plus Casen seems to be following in Corey's footsteps. I think school might be easier for him. I still want to work with him at home a little bit everyday, but I want him at home with me and Crew. Plus pre-school is just one more place to contract germs and bring them home!

6 HOURS LATER....
Talked to my kids when they got home from school and the both had smiles on their faces and only had good things to say....
Corey told me about her teacher and all her friends teachers. She told me what all her friends were wearing and how the teams were picked for soccer at lunchtime and how she likes her teacher. And she told me about alot of other stuff....She just talks and talks and talks.

I had to pull answers out of Cade. But he likes his teacher and his class and he is excited about the gummy bears his teacher passes out if you are paying attention. He also told me about soccer at lunchtime. Looks like the kids are going to have a good year!

Crew and Casen wanting to be part of all the excitement. Casen even got his new backpack out!

Gotta show off the new backpacks!

Ready for his first year of HOME pre-school! Cutie!

The Hill Aerospace Museum in Roy

On the last day of Corey's Soccer Tournament, Matt was able to come, and so we went to Corey's FINALS GAME and then on the way home, we decided to stop at the Hill Aerospace Museum in Roy! We kept driving past it on the way home everyday, and Cade wanted to go. So we decided to wait until Saturday, when Matt could go.

It was pretty amazing. We kept wondering how they got all those planes there. There were a bunch of planes outside and then there were 2 huge hangers filled with more planes. The first hanger had all the WWI and WWII planes and then the 2nd hanger had more modern planes. It was pretty interesting! I think all the boys were loving it. They also had a little learning center for the kids.We spent about an hour in there.

Corey found a girl pilot and wanted her picture!

This was a big bomb the kids were standing by!

This fake dog just reminded us of Auntie Em and her dog MYA!

My kids loved the ones with faces on them!

This is the fastest plane..... an SR-71.

Mom wanted to get in at least one pic!

Or 2...This was a huge helicopter that recently got home from IRAQ!

This was the kids learning center....

Could not believe how big these planes were...these are just how big the wheels are!
